Ever wanted to create your own signature for a forum or chat web site? Now you can, and it isn’t as complicating as you might have thought. This step by step tutorial will walk you through the process of creating a custom black and white signature image.

This is incredibly easy to make. First of all, start by turning all of the images from the goodie bag (here) black and white. Image>Adjustments>Black & White (or by holding Ctrl+Alt+Shift+B).
Create a new image. It should be 450×150 pixels. It should have a Transparent background.
The first few steps, for both signatures, you may use the same things.
Your next step is to resize the dark forest image (dark forest.jpg) so the width is 600 pixels. Then place it in your image.

Now, go to your first image of Jared (jared1.jpg), resize it to 200×259 pixels and place it almost in the middle of your image.

Erase the left edge of the image.

You needn’t worry about the right edge, because another photo will go there, so it will cover it.
That takes to our next step. To make the first example of signature, take the second image of Jared Leto (jared2.jpg), resize it, of course (200×259 pixels). You will have to rotate it. Go to Image> Image Rotation> Flip Canvas Horizontal. Place that image in the right part of your signature.

Set it on the Darker Color Blending Mode.

This looks wrong, doesn’t it. Go to the bottom layer (the one with the forest) and erase the part from under his face.
It looks like this, now:

Return to the top layer and get rid of this part:

This is the way it looks with the second image. However, if you don’t like this image you may use the third image of Jared (jared3.jpg) instead. Resize it to 200×257 pixels and place it in the same spot. Turn it to Darker Color as a Blending Mode.

Now, you have to erase the part of the first image that is one his face.

No matter which image you use, you can use the moon image to make it look more interesting. Resize it to about 100×104 pixels and place it in the left part of the image. Set the layer on Lighten.

You can’t do too many things when it comes to color manipulating, but I think it looks a little too light for my taste. Go to Layer> New Adjustment Layer> Hue/Saturation and set the Master Luminosity to -23.

Add text and what textures you might want and you’re done.

I always use the pen tool when making signatures. I cut out the image i want then work into a background, the eraser doesn’t leave that much open for optimum editing, but this was interesting.
It actually inspires me to start with a background first
