
1. Open template.psd file. Verify that your PSD file is in CMYK color mode and at 300dpi resolution: Image > Image Size:

Then go to Image > Mode and be sure that a file is in CMYK color mode:

2. Business card template has 3 bleeds:
FULL BLEED (91×63mm): extend your background design to this edge, on all sides.
TRIM SIZE (89×51mm) – this is a finished size after trimming.
SAFE ZONE: all critical elements (text, images, logotype) must be kept inside this area.

Disable “Trim lines set” for now.
3. Create a new set and name it “bg”. With a Rectangle Tool (U) draw a random rectangle shapes with different colors.

4. Select a folder icon of the “bg” set and hit CTRL+E to merge layer set:

5. With a Single Row Marquee Too make a single pixel selection:

6. Invert selection (CTRL+I) , hit “Delete” and deselect (CTRL+D):

7. Transform this line now (Edit>Free Transform or CTRL+T):


8. Create a new Photoshop document 1125×675 px (size of the card) BUT in RGB mode and fill and fill with a grey color #666666

11.Filter-> Noise> Add Noise:

12. And now lets texturize this image. Go to Filter > Texture >Texturizer… And use the following settings:

OK.
13. Double-click background layer to unlock, then click CTRL+A (to select all) and CTRL+C (to copy).
14. Insert this image in our Business Card PSD file:

Then change a blend mode “Linear Burn” and set opacity 9-10%:

15. Add a new set and name it “Content”. Set foreground color to #F7EFD8.
With a Rectangle Tool (U) draw a rectangle shape:

16. Double-click on this layer to open the Layer Style window and use the settings from the following image for Drop Shadow:

17. Duplicate layer “Texture” and move it above our rectangle shape. Then click CTRL+G , change a blend mode “Linear Burn” and set opacity 9-10%:

18. Create a new set and name it color. Add a Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer. Choose Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Brightness/Contrast OR click this little icon::

20. Double-click this new adjustment layer to open a settings window. Set brightness and contrast to:

21. Create new layer set “text” and write your text:

For “PHONE, SITE, EMAIL” align text to the right:

For the right part of the content align text to the left:

22. With a Line Tool draw a 1px vertical line (#78AB4E)

23. Well, now duplicate background:

24. and move “bg copy” above content’s shape:

25. Then change a blend mode of this layer to “Screen”:

26. Create a new layer set, name it “Hi, I am…” and type your text like me:

27. Copy “bg” layer again:

and put it above your “Hi, I am” text, then click CTRL+G:

Nice design. Thanks for the tutorial. Im just in the process of designing my business card in photoshop. Normally I would use illustrator but I need some filters that only Photoshop has.
